All things vintage “out with the new” and “in with the old”

All things vintage is so “now” it is a case of “out with the new” and “in with the old”, well not quite, more old meets new in a very interesting manner.

The advent of Spring, of course, usually presents a flourish of activity. However, this season there seems to be an extra surge.   Planning well ahead avoids disappointment and eliminates any stress levels that can accumulate. Happily, marriage is on the increase.  Of course, obtaining quality products usually needs deep pockets, so in these uncertain times it is wise that planners have applied a little logic.  I suspect the trend of all things vintage has given ......   (please click below to read more).

A brush with TV for Ruby with Roses

Well, It's all go for Ruby with Roses, if we are not planning a unique styled table plan; we are talking to customers and swapping ideas. It is so exciting this time of the year when a fever of activity prevails. We get a chance to share with the party planners growing enthusiasm and delight in using vintage ware.

This past week, we have been involved with a prime T V company - Cwmni. We were asked to supply the hire of vintage china for their documentary filming of a Victorian setting for a luncheon and dinner in the Judge's Lodgings Museum in Prestigne, Wales. What a wonderful museum this is! very, very interesting, it shows the famous judges quarters and the cells that held prisoners in custody. We were greeted by the museum's friendly and accommodating staff and given an illuminating tour around the building. The relaxed atmosphere was both informal and interesting. Cwmni TV was delighted with the china that we were able to provide, and indeed, it looked beautiful on our crisp white linen.

We would certainly recommend a visit to this unusual museum in the pretty village of Prestigne, Mid Wales. Anyone interested in history would not fail to enjoy the opportunity to be given an insight into a very different bygone age. Our thanks to all concerned at the Judges Lodgings - we hope to be back soon.

A clip from the article about Ruby with Roses on 5 Star Wedding Blog

Ruby with Roses idea of being able to offer superb vintage china was born through the realisation that weddings or indeed any special event often lacked that very special touch.

Dawn had been supplying specialist quality china to the hospitality industry for over 16 years. Plain white china had been in demand for wedding receptions mainly due to the influence of minimalism in interior design. This look had been the front runner of design for several years.

Fashion trends come and go and the often bland effect given with white-ware was diminishing, slowly more decorative ranges were arriving on the scene. This was evident from the many glossy magazines showing beautifully coloured china often decorated with the much-loved English rose. Even high profile celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Lady Ga Ga have been seen in the right places, drinking tea from dainty china cups.

ACROSS THE WIDE DIVIDE
Ruby with Roses recently provided vintage china for a Baby Shower at the very prestigious country hotel: The Elms in Worcestershire.

Their client, a charming American lady from Texas was thrilled with their styling and setting and to quote her email: “Thanks again for everything. I've received many emails praising the day and it was mostly due to your presentation of dishes, etc.”

The lady in question, whilst sailing around the world wanted to arrange the extra special event for her niece, who, though American by birth was living in England.

Ruby with Roses brief was to provide a quintessentially English setting for her friends and family, visiting from all over the world, to enjoy. What better way than to add “Vintage” touches to the occasion.

The event was held at The Elms, an 18th century hotel with its magnificent rooms, set in the splendid Worcestershire countryside, providing the perfect backdrop and truly superb setting for the fine vintage china. The starched white linen tables were resplendent in an array of country garden patterned cups and saucers, plates, teapots, cake stands and sweet dishes.

The party was a complete success and resulted in a flurry of compliments from the delighted guests; “beautiful china”, “wonderful colour scheme”, “lovely to see a return to gracious living” etc.

Ruby with Roses was very proud to have had the opportunity once again to “show off” their exquisite elegant china.
